Comporium Security Dealer Program Features Nation's Most Advanced Home Security and Management System, Powered by iControl Networks

Demo Planned at NCTA's 60th Annual Convention and International Expo

CHICAGO - (June 13, 2011) — Comporium today announced that it is featuring the most advanced home security and home management system in the United States, which it will demo at The Cable Show to be held June 14-16 at McCormick Place.

The award-winning security system, which is powered by iControl, sets the standards for safeguarding family and possessions, and at the same time, turns the residence into a "smart" home that can control lighting, appliances and energy. Comporium offers the state-of-the-art product as part of its Security Dealer Program, which now comprises more than 50 cable TV, telecommunications and electric utility clients, representing one million customers.

"Consumer demand for advanced security and remote home management is growing. iControl's OpenHome platform provides features beyond traditional home security and, through the extensive reach of Comporium's Security Dealer program, will enable the demands of consumers to be met," said Jim Johnson, co-CEO of iControl Networks.

Comporium's dealers are growing their businesses by adding interactive home security services and other features. Comporium supports them with technical and sales know-how and its UL certified Central Monitoring Station. The Comporium Security Dealer Program also provides preferred pricing on equipment, business application and licensing assistance, and proven training and marketing support.

Comporium's Connected Home system centers on an interactive touch screen that provides familiar "keypad" operation as well as, web and personal content. The development has garnered attention by followers of the "hottest technology companies" out of tech-heavy Silicon Valley, and was highlighted in the February 2011 edition of SDM (Security Distributing and Marketing) magazine. In April 2011, Unified Communications Magazine named iControl among its Product of the Year Award winners.

"Any iPhone® and iPad® user and other smartphone customers are going to immediately recognize and comprehend how our new home security and home management system works," Comporium General manager Dan Lehman said. "Downloadable applications for controlling security, video monitoring, lighting, and thermostat; as well as, for finding other web-based information and entertainment content will be offered on the touch screen."

The features of the Comporium Security system include:

  • Ease-of-use - Simple, attractive, "at a glance" interfaces (web, mobile web management, touch screen, and iPhone®/iPad®)
  • Alerts - Email or text message alerts when events do and don't occur
  • Interactive Video - Live and event-based (e.g., door opens) video clips and pictures viewable via mobile phone, iPhone® or web portal
  • Home Management - Security, lighting, video, energy, doors, and more for personal monitoring and scheduling can be controlled from mobile, web, and in-home access
  • System Control -- Web, mobile, iPhone®/iPad®/iPod touch® and in-home touch screen access
  • IP-Enabled Home Security - "Always-On" broadband - and cellular-based network connectivity between the security system and Comporium's central monitoring station

Lehman said that the pricing for the system and the typical monitoring fees that a Security Dealer could charge are extremely price competitive for both the company and its customers. The typical system package includes the all-in-one touch screen and security control panel, two door/window sensors, one motion sensor, one wireless camera, one wireless key fob; plus, a yard sign and window decal.

Comporium's monitoring cost to the Dealer does not increase if the customer chooses to add sensors or cameras (the system can handle up to six cameras). Optional equipment such as lighting modules, thermostats and cameras are available and may be sold to customers separately. The installation of this system also does not require wires to be run all over the house and upfront direct cost is minimized.

"This state-of-the-art system creates the portal to the home or the family information center where multiple systems including security are controlled in one place and provide other needed information," added Lehman. "We are very excited about offering this advanced technology in our Security Dealer Program!"
